5 Must Have Smartphone Apps

Smartphones are becoming more and more popular. Along with their ability to make phone calls, send texts, read emails and scour the Internet comes a great variety of apps that allow smartphone users to find an array of information or perform a variety of tasks. Everything from gaming to shopping to applying makeup and learning how to cook can be found on a smartphone app.
If you are a new smartphone user, you can be overwhelmed with the amount of applications available at your fingertips. You may download everything or be unsure where to begin. Lucky for you, we're here to help. The following are five apps that you must have.

1. Find My iPhone/Locate My Droid
Locate My Droid apps

Depending on which type of smartphone device you have, you will want to download Find My iPhone or Locate My Droid immediately. Both apps are used to locate your phone if stolen or missing. Using another device, you can enter your information into the app to locate your phone. You can either see the location of your phone using the app’s map, or you can schedule a sound to play in order to locate it—even if your phone is currently placed on silent.
Find My iPhone also allows users to lock the phone if it is stolen as well as erase all personal information.

2. The Weather Channel
Weather Channel apps

Though some smartphones may come equipped with a weather app already installed, The Weather Channel app provides more than just local weather. Through the app, users are able to view current weather conditions in their area, hourly weather conditions, 10-day forecasts as well as radar maps. You will also receive severe weather alerts to notify you of incoming weather conditions, and you can also set up push alerts for pollen if you have seasonal allergies.
The Weather Channel app also allows you to locate weather conditions in other parts of the world, and you can designate favorites to easily view weather in multiple locations without having to re-search.
3. QR Code Readers
apps

QR codes are becoming more popular on packaging and marketing materials, and the information behind these two-dimensional codes is only available to those who own a smartphone. With a QR reader, you can access the information from these codes, which can either provide you with more information or reward you with some type of incentive. Apps such as i-nigma, Quick Mark, Kaywa and QRDroid are all popular QR code readers. Try them out and stick with your favorite so that you can benefit from the information behind the code.
4. Social Media Apps
Whether you're on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn or some other social networking site, chances are there's a smartphone app available. Using social media while on the go is more popular than using these sites while stationary. Having instant access to your favorite networks allows you to be constantly in the know as well as allowing you to update your information or access certain information whenever you need it. Plus, having these apps on your phone is a great way to kill time while waiting at the doctor's office or standing in long lines at the grocery store.
5. Your Bank
Most popular banking franchises have mobile apps that allow users to check balances, transfer money throughout accounts, pay bills and even deposit checks all from the convenience of your smartphone. If you forgot to pay your phone bill, you can do so through your phone while sitting in a taxi. If your checking account is running low on funds, you can transfer money from your savings account without traveling to the bank.
While having access to this information is great, it is a good idea to not save your username and password to the mobile app. This way, if your phone is ever lost or stolen, the thief will need your username and password in order to access the information. If you had this info saved, simply opening the app would provide them with instant access to your money.

If you have a smartphone, make sure to download these apps immediately.

What Should You Consider With Mobile Application Development?

Businesses across the world have now understood the importance of mobile application development. Before the inception of smart phones, a lot of businesses competed against each other to be the first ones to get in touch with prospective clients over the Internet. Formerly, the web was accessed only through a laptop or a desktop. Over the years, technology has changed greatly. At the moment, the smart phones allow the users to access the web and use the gadget as a computer.

If there were a single brand of mobile phones, it would have been a lot simpler since people expect the monopoly to be broken with newer entrants in the field. Any industry is likely to be filled with different brands as competitors venture into the market. The same rule applies for the mobile application and smart phone market. There are various brands of smart phones today, including the iPhone, Blackberry, Windows Phone and Android based phones. While considering a mobile application developers, you must consider the platform and the operating system. The application would never materialize if your mobile applications were incompatible with these two aspects.

With every passing day, the competition is getting tougher. There are thousands of mobile application developers on the Internet today and each of them claims to offer quality services. It is suggestive to hire a team that possesses an expertise with different operating systems. For an instance, if majority of your clients use an iPhone, then it is suggestive to develop iPhone-based application whereas if they use Android phones, then you must have a mobile application on Android OS. A wrong developer can turn out to be expensive, since you waste your time, money and resources on it. Therefore, you need to do some basic research on the expertise and the reliability of your mobile application developer.

Check for all the similar applications being offered in the market. Once you assess your competition, determine the extra services you need to offer with your mobile applications. Be careful that your application must not be a replica of something that already exists. Different kinds of operating systems have different controls in the market today. For an instance, you can develop an Android mobile application and deploy it or put it on sale via different online stores. While selling an Android application, it is not necessary to sell it through Google stores only. On the other hand, you will not be able to sell the iPhone mobile phone applications directly. You will have to get the approval from the Apple team, before they deploy it in the Apple store. Obviously, you will be paid a commission if your application is sold or downloaded. As a rule, iPhone users can download the applications through an Apple store only.

Making Money with your Blackberry

Just last year, everyone in cyber world was abuzz about two things: Steve Job’s death and the latest product of his company, the iPhone 4S. Actually, the iPhone 4S was supposed to be released summer of 2011, but encountered delays. Thus, its fall release, just weeks after Mr. Job’s death. Moreover, there were a good number of complaints about overheating issues in the iPhone 4, its predecessor. So, Apple continued to improve their products to ensure that there will not be an “exploding iPhone 4S syndrome” just like what happened to the iPhone 4.
The iPhone 4S drew more fans though because of one feature: the camera. iPhonesare not particularly known for their great cameras, unlike Samsung smartphones. But the 8 Megapixel camera with built-in LED flash is any gadget lover’s dream and was present in the iPhone 4S.

Against the iPhone 4’s 5 megapixel camera equipped with a built-in LED flash and 720p video capture, the iPhone 4S is a noticeable improvement with an astounding 8 megapixel camera and 1080p video capture. It is also be equipped with a built-in LED flash for taking pictures in low ambient light. If that won’t get you in the mood to click away, nothing much will!
Now that we have traveled a bit down memory lane, you may be convinced already to get rid of your old smartphone, like your BB. It’s a good thing that there are companies that allow you to sell your BlackBerry online. By doing so, you can save money, time and effort.
Giving up your BB to an online company is actually a simple method you can do to get cash from your old cellphone. When you choose to get into a transaction with one of these companies, you have to go online and search for a refurbishment company that offers it.
One example of companies offering this kind of business is cashforberrys.com. The first thing that you will notice when you sell your BlackBerry to a website, especially one as credible as Cash for Berrys , is that you can finish the whole deal in less than a minute. That’s what an online transaction should be, right? They should be fast, easy, and risk-free. A cell phone selling transaction with this kind of company will guarantee you money that you can use to offset your iPhone upgrade.
In a smart phone trade in, you just have to identify your BB model and give its existing condition. You will be given out a quoted price right after. If you agree to the offer , the transaction will proceed to the shipping form. Complete the form and you’re done!
The entire transaction will come right easy if you know the basic things about your device. You better be able to recall the brand model and some of its parts before getting into this kind of deal. Also, you will be asked to answer easy questions about your device, so everything about the deal comes easy.
Remember, making the right move when upgrading to new gadgets should never be a burden. In this case, not only is it easier to sell your BlackBerry online, it has also become more fun.
